A Cappella Association of Western

About us:
Welcome to the A Cappella Association of Western University. Here at ACA-Western, we have four amazing a cappella groups for you to join. The A Cappella Project (TAP) is our non-competitive, co-ed a cappella group. It serves as open forum for those interested in singing, arranging, and beatboxing. TAP accepts members regardless of experience, and hope to improve members’ vocal techniques and performance skills. Equivox is our competitive, co-ed a cappella group. Founded in 2017, Equivox has gone on to perform at the ICCA quarterfinals three times, as well as the Queen’s University Annual A Cappella competition. You can join Equivox by audition. Repercussions is a competitive, all-female a cappella group that has performed at the ICCAs (International Collegiate Championships of A Cappella) as well as been accepted to the Queens University Annual A Cappella Competition. You can join Repercussions by audition. Koruso is our newest group year at ACA-Western! They are a non-competitive group focused on delivering high-quality performances of classical choral music. It is worth noting that members in our competitive groups typically have considerable musical experience and a lot of time to dedicate to a cappella rehearsals, and competitions, but if you love singing and performing, there is a team for you here at ACA-Western!

Spoken Word Society

About us:
Spoken Word Society is a congregation of artists. We open our gates to anyone wanting to tell their side of the story, the things they are desperate to scream off of rooftops and the things they want to simply write and keep to themselves. In that mission, we are indiscriminate. Our goals are two fold: to introduce newcomers to the fascinating world of poetry and to provide a forum for more experienced poets. We hold weekly workshops throughout the academic year exploring the world of Poetry. Here, we will focus on both the written and performance aspects of poetry and develop our crafts as Spoken Word Artists. Each workshop will feature prompts based on that weeks theme and a specfic technical aspect associated with performance.Spoken Word Society will also host a number of Open Mics and Slams over the year, as well as a series of slams spanning the entire campus. As a club, we will also attend Spoken Word events organized by other entities across the campus providing our support, as well as, hopefully, snagging some prizes.
