ALPHA stands for “Association of Learning and Preserving the History of WWII in Asia”.
ALPHA EDUCATION was founded in 1997 in Toronto. Since then it has grown to become a global leader and influencer of peace, social justice, and humanity by promoting the study, research, and remembrance of the history of WWII in Asia. Now there are many university chapters across Canada, Western being one of them. We host events to educated students on the more lesser known events of WWII in Asia that aren’t necessarily taught in school but are equally as important as European history. We also like to hold regular discussions on other social justice issues with a focus on youth education.
We like to find fun and innovative ways for education by hosting various types of events. If you’ve been a student at Western for a while you may have seen our speech competitions, case competitions, trivia nights, and Asian art night in collaboration with other clubs! We have a trivia event planned for this semester and we are also hoping to host more interactive events via zoom. Membership is $5 this year and we would really appreciate your support by officially joining, however, our events are open to anyone so please pop in to one of our zoom meetings!
We can’t wait to meet you!
