Mock Trial is an annual event organized and hosted by WPLS. A simulation of real court proceedings, the event offers members the unique opportunity to argue a criminal case as both the defense and the prosecution in front of a judge. Case materials are distributed by WPLS to registered teams, which typically consist of six or more individuals. WPLS further offers Mock Trial training sessions to prepare participants: these offer invaluable information, describing the process of a criminal case, how to write opening and closing statements, forming examinations, and other tips and tricks to succeed in court. This year, Mock Trial will be hosted virtually on February 6th through Zoom. Registration closes January 16th – check out the attached link to sign up!
Law School Information Session:
A significant aspect of Western Pre-Law Society’s mission as a club is to help pave the way for those interested in attending law school. In an effort to clarify what can often be a confusing and overwhelming process, WPLS offers a Law School Information Panel. Representatives from a variety of different law schools across Canada are invited to give a presentation on their respective school, the nature of applications, applicant expectations, course offerings, and student experience. There is an opportunity for WPLS members to ask law school representatives any further questions they may have. Applying to law school can be stressful – but it doesn’t have to be. Check out the WPLS Instagram for updates on upcoming events designed to help you on your way to law school!
